  • Can you tell us about the format of the initial assessment?
The initial assessment starts prior to the first actual meeting via pre-visit questionnaires. These questionnaires are used in conjunction with our initial assessment to create a comprehensive picture of your child and environmental dynamics. The first half of the visit will be parent-only to allow you a chance to share your concerns, while the second half of the visit will be a chance to meet your child and observe. The overall treatment plan will be discussed at the second visit.
  • What is our philosophy?
Our philosophy is built upon the Perspectives Approach at Johns Hopkins University Psychiatry. This approach is focused on considering a child from multiple lenses including the developmental stage, the settings (i.e. home and school), the conditioned learning, the choices they make, and when indicated the syndromes that contribute. Each lens is vital as it creates a unique opportunity to design developmentally appropriate treatment strategies that provide tailored treatment to the child, family, and school. The child is not an island onto themselves, but instead a beautiful reflection of the world in which they operate. This is a unique perspective as it allows our providers to create actionable areas for building resilience and confidence for our children, families, and communities at large.
